Our always-on protective safety measures start before you get in the car, and our customizable in-ride tools are at your fingertips for added peace of mind. From planning your route to arriving safely at your destination, here are the key safety features to keep in mind this summer.
New for this summer—added security on every ride.
Audio Recording: With our latest tool, Audio Recording, both riders and drivers can record audio during a ride in the Lyft app. Schedule recordings in advance, or start them when you want — it’s up to you. Your recordings are private unless you choose to share with Lyft’s Safety Team.
PIN Verification: With PIN verification, riders in select U.S. markets can now verify their driver before the ride starts. When you opt into PIN verification, you will receive a PIN that drivers will confirm to start the ride.

Scheduled Check In: Schedule a check-in from Lyft to confirm you got to your destination safely. We’ll reach out after your ride and make sure you’re alright.
Support from real humans: Our specialized safety team is available via phone or chat 24/7. Additionally, you can reach ADT emergency professionals through the app for live support.* They can alert authorities and share important details like your location and vehicle info. In an emergency, you can reach 911 right from the app.
Privacy protection: Your phone number and personal information are never shared with other riders or drivers. Additionally, your driver sees a nearby pin for pickup — but never your exact address or location, and your saved addresses (like Home or Work) remain private and visible only to you.
Instant alerts for smoother rides: We send instant alerts to drivers, like when they brake too hard, to help make your ride smoother and safer.

Helpful alerts: Our Smooth Cruiser program provides weekly reports and real-time feedback to help you adopt safer driving habits. Plus, our smart navigation alerts you to speed limits, road hazards, and bike lanes — keeping every ride smooth and secure.
Emergency contacts: Add trusted contacts who will be notified if you’re ever unable to do so yourself.
