Lyft is bringing driver relief for rising gas prices through rewards for 60 days

Mar 25, 2026

Drivers are at the heart of Lyft. They are our customers, and we know our success is only possible because of the drivers who choose to use Lyft every day. Gas prices have jumped significantly in the past few weeks, and we know that hits hardest for drivers who depend on driving for their income.

When costs fluctuate, we know relief matters. That’s why we’re launching a 60-day driver relief program to help offset the cost at the pump - beginning Friday, March 27 through Tuesday, May 26.

Here’s how we’re helping - all rewards are stackable:

  • An additional 2% cash back for Elite tier drivers and an additional 1% cash back for Gold and Platinum tier drivers, when using a Lyft Direct business debit card to pay at the pump at eligible U.S. gas stations. That’s on top of:

    • Existing cash back of 10% for Elite tiered members, 7% for Platinum, and 3% for Gold, 2% for Silver tiered and 1% for all other drivers.

    • An existing 1% at Mastercard® Easy Savings gas stations. Find locations right in the Lyft Direct app.

    • See chart below for estimated total savings.

  • Additional 14¢/gal through Upside: this is on top of current driver tiered rewards of $0.08–$0.32/gal for Platinum & Elite, $0.05–$0.27/gal for Gold, and $0.05–$0.25/gal for all other drivers.*

  • Points for dollars: drivers can redeem their existing Shop points, a program where drivers exchange points for services, for $5 off their next fill-up with Upside.**

Driver Relief Program: Estimated Savings table. Columns: Driver Tier, From Lyft Direct, From Upside, Estimated Max Combined Cash Back. No tier: $0.04/gal, $0.19–$0.39/gal, $0.23–$0.43/gal. Silver: $0.08/gal, $0.19–$0.39/gal, $0.27–$0.47/gal. Gold: $0.16/gal, $0.19–$0.41/gal, $0.35–$0.57/gal. Platinum: $0.32/gal, $0.22–$0.46/gal, $0.54–$0.78/gal. Elite: $0.48/gal, $0.22–$0.46/gal, $0.70–$0.94/gal. Estimates based on national average fuel price of $3.97/gal.

“Drivers are feeling the cost of rising gas prices, which ultimately impacts their earnings," said Yuko Yamazaki, Lyft’s VP, Head of Driver. “When costs spike, we want drivers to choose Lyft because they feel like the platform works for them, not against them.”

Additional Help for Drivers

For drivers who own an electric vehicle or are considering the switch, Lyft offers dedicated charging incentives. Drivers can also choose their ride type, make the most of their time on and off the road with our Earnings Assistant, and receive a driver accomplishment letter within the driver app.
