The shift to EVs will create opportunities for drivers to lower costs and keep more of their earnings.

Replacing gasoline-powered cars with EVs is a significant step forward in our efforts to fight climate change, and to improve the quality of life in our cities.
EVs produce no tailpipe emissions.
Once adopted widely, EVs hold the promise of making cities more liveable by dramatically reducing air pollution.
Helping drivers save money
We have no plans to require drivers to switch to EVs; instead, we believe we can help make driving an EV a profitable choice and are committed to helping drivers transition to these types of cars over time.
For drivers who’d like to drive electric without having to purchase a vehicle, Lyft is working to expand the availability of EVs through Express Drive, Lyft’s vehicle rental partner program.
Combining lower fuel costs with affordable rental rates, we anticipate that individual drivers can save hundreds of dollars per month, and thousands of dollars per year, on fuel costs alone.
A cleaner option for riders
In response to rider requests for cleaner vehicle options, we’re giving passengers the ability to connect with drivers using hybrid or electric vehicles through Green rides. Over time, we expect to make Green rides available more widely.
This is part of our larger effort to connect riders with more environmentally friendly transportation options through our platform.
