In response to the heat wave-related power outages across California which are impacting hundreds of thousands of residents, Lyft is committed to doing our part to help those in need. We’re activating our LyftUp Disaster Response program to help those in affected areas move to designated cooling centers.
We’re providing access to free rides to select cooling centers. Rides can be accessed using the code CAHEATRELIEF20, valid for 2 rides up to $15 each, from now until 08/19 at 11:59 p.m. while rides are available. We advise checking cooling center operational hours and availability before visiting the sites.
In partnership with United Way and 211, individuals in San Francisco, Alameda, Santa Clara, and Sonoma Counties in need can also dial 211 to have a ride dispatched on their behalf.
LyftUp is our comprehensive effort to expand transportation access to those who need it most. Through LyftUp, we partner with leading nonprofits to help provide free and discounted rides to individuals and families who lack affordable, reliable transportation.
Safety is fundamental to Lyft and we will continue to monitor the area’s conditions and communicate with Lyft drivers, riders, and government officials. As always, we look forward to providing rides to those who need them.
