Manhattan Bridge

The first suspension bridge built on deflection theory, the Manhattan Bridge opened to traffic in 1909. The American Society of Civil Engineers named the bridge a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. The bridge has been going under an extensive $834 million reconstruction since 1982.

Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge

The Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, opened in 1909, is a five span cantilever truss; the only one of the four great East River Bridges that is not a suspension bridge. The bridge was designated as a national landmark on November 23, 1973.
