Coming Soon: Get Rewarded Every Month

Lyft Rewards exists to recognize your drive, dedication, and incredible service. And we want you to get rewarded even faster.

That's why, starting on May 1, your Lyft Rewards program is switching from 3-month to 1-month qualifying periods.

That means you’ll receive new goals to target at the beginning of each month, and your points balance will reset each month, too.

Since the qualifying periods are getting shorter, you’ll notice that monthly goals will be more within reach—so you’ll be able to access rewards more quickly.

Plus, monthly qualifying periods will be easier to remember and track—so you can better plan your time on the road.

Here’s a few more details:

  • Qualifying periods will work the same way: Once you earn enough points to unlock a tier, you’ll keep it for the current qualifying period and the next qualifying period (as long as you continue to satisfy the eligibility requirements)—no change there. Starting May 1, each qualifying period will last one month rather than three.

  • Points still unlock tiers: You’ll still earn points to qualify for tiers. A quick refresher: Every eligible dollar you earn during busy hours counts as one point. With shorter qualifying periods, you'll notice that the number of points you need to qualify for each tier will be lower than before.

  • Your rewards stay the same: We aren’t making any changes to the Silver, Gold, or Platinum rewards at this time.

  • Track your progress in your Driver app: Remember, you can always see how close you are to unlocking rewards by tapping ‘Lyft Rewards’ in your Lyft Driver app. Starting May 1, you’ll be able to view the new monthly qualifying period dates and monthly points targets there.

FAQs:

Why is this changing?

With monthly qualifying periods, drivers like you can get rewarded for their recent driving more quickly. That’s because the points required to unlock tiers—Silver, Gold, or Platinum—will be lower than before. So, if you’ve been doing a great job, you’ll be able to reach tiers more quickly. And if you keep up the great driving, you’ll be able to maintain your tier status, and continue enjoying your rewards.

Plus, it’s easier to remember monthly qualifying periods.

What if I have already unlocked a Lyft Rewards tier by May 1?

Nice! You’ll keep your tier status for the month of May—as long as you continue to meet the eligibility requirements.

The points you earn in May will then determine your status when the next qualifying period starts on June 1.

For example, if you unlocked the Platinum Tier on April 20, then you’ll stay Platinum for all of May (as long as you maintain the minimum required driving score or rating, depending on your region).

On May 1, you’ll see the new (monthly) points target required to unlock Platinum in your Driver app. You’ll then have all of May to earn the points needed to maintain your Platinum status beyond May. If you succeed, then you’ll keep your Platinum rewards through the end of November.

What can I expect on May 1?

On May 1, your driver app will be updated to reflect the new monthly qualifying periods and the monthly points thresholds to unlock each tier. You’ll be able to start earning points toward maintaining your status or unlocking a higher tier.

And remember—you’ll be able to check your progress anytime by tapping ‘Lyft Rewards.’

What will happen to the points I’ve earned prior to May 1?

On May 1, you’ll see your points balance reset to zero. This is because May 1 will mark the beginning of a new qualifying period.

Don’t worry, though—we’ll give you credit for any points you’ve already earned between Feb. 1 and Apr. 30. Here’s how:

  • We’ll take a look at the number of points you earned prior to May 1.

  • Based on your progress, we’ll reward you status (in other words, we’ll prorate your progress to determine which status you deserve).

Here’s an example:  If the requirement to unlock the Platinum Tier in your region is to earn 300 points between Feb. 1 and Apr. 30, and if you have earned 200 points by May 1, then on May 1, we will reward you Platinum status. That’s because you earned two-thirds of the points required to unlock Platinum in two-thirds of the time. That way, we’ll make sure all of your efforts to-date are properly rewarded. You’ll start the May qualifying period as a Platinum driver.

How long will my tier last? What’s a qualifying period?

When you unlock a Lyft Rewards tier, it will still be yours for the current qualifying period and the next qualifying period.

But on May 1, Lyft Rewards qualifying periods will become monthly. So that means when you reach a tier, it will be yours for the remainder of the current month as well as the next month.

Don’t forget—you also have to maintain the minimum required driving score or driver rating, depending on your region, to keep your tier.

Here’s an example of how qualifying periods will work starting May 1:

During May, you drive during busy hours and earn enough points to unlock Gold. You’ll then have Gold throughout the end of the current qualifying period and all through the next qualifying period. So, in this example, you’d be a Gold Tier driver for the remainder of May and all through June, assuming you also maintained a driving score of 80% or above (or alternatively, a driver rating of 4.9 or above, depending on your region).

In the example above, if you earned enough points (and met the minimum required driving score or driver rating) to qualify for Platinum during June, you’d immediately be upgraded to the Platinum Tier and could enjoy those rewards until the end of July. Your status in August would then be dependent upon your driving during July.

On May 1, your driver app will be updated to reflect the new monthly qualifying periods and the updated points thresholds to unlock each tier. You’ll be able to check your progress anytime by tapping ‘Lyft Rewards.’

Is there any change to my rewards?

Nope. The rewards you unlock when you reach the Silver, Gold, or Platinum tier are still yours to enjoy, and there aren’t any changes to them at this time.

How will points work in the future?

Points will still qualify you for Lyft Rewards tiers. You will continue to earn points the same way: by driving during your market’s busy hours. For every eligible dollar you earn during designated busy hours, you’ll get one point. Those points unlock tiers (Silver, Gold, and Platinum), and for every tier you reach, you’ll have access to exclusive rewards. As always, points reset at the end of a qualifying period, so you’ll start each month fresh.

As a reminder, eligible earnings are: your base fare, your time and distance rates, Shared Ride pickup earnings, and tips you receive.

Busy hours and the number of points needed to qualify for each tier will all vary by market. For details on your market’s busy hours and how Lyft Rewards works for you, tap ‘Lyft Rewards’ in your Lyft Driver app.

When do my points reset?

Just like before, your points will reset at the end of each qualifying period. So starting May 1, they’ll reset at the end of each month. When a new month starts, you’ll need to earn points to maintain your status or unlock a higher tier.
