The American Rescue Plan’s Child Tax Credit 

Significant benefits for eligible families signing up by November 15

The American Rescue Plan provides an expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) offering nearly every family in the United States $3,600 annually for young children and $3,000 for older children, issued in monthly payments. If you aren’t receiving the payments already, you may need to sign up to receive them. 

Signing up is easy: Code for America, in collaboration with the White House and Treasury, launched a simplified tool at GetCTC.org. The tool is in English and Spanish, and is mobile friendly. Most families can complete it within about 15 minutes. 

Families must sign up by November 15 to get payments this year.
