Since I stepped into my role leading driver initiatives at Lyft last year, I’ve heard one thing over and over: drivers want to make the most of their time on the road, and they want that time to contribute to something bigger than the ride in front of them.
This year's updates are focused on helping drivers make more informed decisions while they’re driving and investing in the tools that help them reach their goals.
With that in mind, here’s what’s new for drivers this fall:
Smarter tools to better inform
We’ve heard that what often separates a good driving session from a great one is simply knowing where to be and when. That's the thinking behind the new AI tools in the driver app like Lyft Advisor and proactive summaries.
Lyft Advisor: This is our new on-demand chatbot that’s already rolling out to many drivers. It draws on a driver’s own driving history and what's happening in their area to answer questions like "where can I go now to get more rides?" or "what were my best earning days this week?" According to Madeline, a frequent driver who tested it out: "It really does feel like an advisor, like an assistant."
Coming soon– voice controls and proactive session summaries: We're also piloting new AI features like allowing drivers to use their voice to turn on filters, find the nearest gas station, and more. Later, drivers will also get access to quick briefings of earnings, mileage, and rider feedback after each driving session, so they can see what worked for them and what they may want to try differently next time.

Better airport guidance
We've also leveled up our guidance for drivers doing airport rides. We’ve already heard that recent in-app visual updates and queue estimates are making airport rides easier, so now we're adding hour-by-hour wait-time guidance across many of the major airports across the country to help drivers decide when a trip out to the terminal is worth it to them, before they’ve already spent time getting there.

Turbo updates
Turbo, our feature showing bonuses for driving in the busiest areas and times, recently got some driver-requested updates. Scheduled rides now clearly show the bonus amount upfront when drivers accept them, and we’ve cleaned up the map so Turbo and Flash Turbo zones are easier to tell apart with a quick glance. If a driver is not currently in a Turbo zone, we'll show them where one is. Turbo can mean more earnings per ride, so we want to make sure drivers can actually see and use this feature when it matters most.

Service that sets Lyft apart
And here's something no update can replicate: driver service. A warm greeting, a good local recommendation, knowing when a rider just needs quiet. That's the kind of service only a human-driven ride can offer, and it's exactly why we keep investing in ways to help drivers make the most of it. Our new feedback and insights hub shows drivers what riders actually value most about their rides, alongside driving stats and personalized insights. Drivers can see, in one place, just how much the human touch matters.

More rewards, shaped by drivers
Lyft Rewards is one of the most direct ways we can show drivers that their time and great service add up. And we know they notice: so far this year, drivers have redeemed points equal to 85 percent of everything granted in 2026.
Since we introduced redeemable points last year, we've been hearing from drivers about what they actually want to spend them on. That feedback is why we keep adding new options to the Lyft Shop. Drivers can now redeem points for a 3-month Walmart+ membership and Apple gift cards, alongside everyday car-care rewards like cash back on gas, oil changes, and car washes.
Drivers also told us they want support for their health and well-being, so we've added wellness perks for tiers they unlock, like discounts on Planet Fitness memberships, and offer Calm guided meditations in the Learning Center. It's part of our ongoing investment in the lives of drivers beyond their time on the road, and making sure the rewards keep getting better.
Our work on the driver experience continues
The way drivers show up for riders with kindness, patience, and local expertise is one of the reasons people choose Lyft. As our industry keeps evolving, that's not changing. And if anything, it matters more.
Our heartfelt thanks to every driver who’s trusted us with their time and feedback. We're as committed as ever to building a platform that helps give every driver what they need most.
