At Lyft, we believe in reducing car ownership and sharing the ride to build a future where transportation ushers in positive change. A critical part of this future includes self-driving vehicles, which will ultimately make our cities safer, greener, and more efficient. If you’ve taken a Lyft in Las Vegas lately, you may have seen an option for Lyft Self-Driving in your app, or seen our partner Aptiv’s self-driving vehicles cruising down the Strip. Today, we’re excited to announce a major milestone we’ve hit with Aptiv: 5,000 self-driving rides.
If you’re looking to take a self-driving ride, they work just like standard Lyft rides: if you’re in range when a vehicle is available, simply request, ride, and pay via the Lyft app. A quick refresher on our self-driving history with Aptiv: In January, we launched our self-driving program with Aptiv at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). After that successful CES run, we extended our program to be an ongoing Lyft mode for Las Vegas in
May, launching a fleet of Aptiv self-driving vehicles on our network. Since launching the program to the Vegas community, the response from our passenger community has been overwhelmingly positive — both the rate that passengers have been taking these rides as well as their feedback. Here are a few examples:
96% of passengers have indicated that they intend to ride again
20% of our passengers have already jumped in for their second or third self-driving ride
The average passenger rating is 4.96 out of 5 stars
Passengers have been describing their rides as an amazing experience, been impressed with how technologically advanced the car is, and felt safe and at ease
Ready to help shape the future? Whether you live in Las Vegas or are just visiting, use the Lyft app to request a self-driving ride — and don’t forget to share your feedback with us.
