We love our grandparents, but sometimes the generational divide can make us wonder if we really know how to celebrate them appropriately.

Check out the library. Lyft Silver riders adore the library — they take 3x as many rides to the local library as other customers.
Head to a museum. There’s no denying that grandparents love history — Lyft Silver riders take almost 3x more rides to museums than other riders. But when it comes to picking a museum that will thrill your grandparents, consider their interests: art lovers gravitate to New York’s Frick Collection and Metropolitan Museum of Art, while history buffs head to the Field Museum in Chicago and the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.
Get ready to DIY. Your grandparents might love gardening and fixing up the house — Lyft Silver riders frequent Lowe’s, The Home Depot, Ace Hardware, as well as local hardware stores and garden centers 2.4x as often as other riders. So consider bringing the toolbox and/or garden trowel over for some quality DIY time this Grandparents’ Day.So for Grandparents’ Day (September 7), we dug into the data on Lyft Silver — a simplified version of the Lyft app designed with older adults’ needs in mind — to see the places older riders like to frequent. Take a look and get ready to wow the PopPop or MeeMaw in your life with a sure-fire itinerary.
Pamper them. Nail salons, blow-dry bars, and hair salons are among Lyft Silver riders’ favored locales, particularly for female riders. Treat Grandma to a day at the spa, and have her feel like a queen for the day.
Take in nature. Parks are another popular option with older adults. An outdoor stroll can be a great opportunity to take in the leaves changing, get some exercise, and glean some of the wisdom your grandparents have to pass down.
Hit a matinee. Older adults know you don’t have to stay out late or fight the crowds to have a good time; Lyft Silver riders are 30% more likely to go to a movie between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Bonus, those matinee showings are cheaper too (great for the grandparent who appreciates a good deal).
Shop at their favorite store. Lyft Silver riders like to go to stores like J.Jill, Walmart, and Burlington. And comfortable footwear is a must: They frequently hit up Crocs and Skechers stores. Another sweet insight? Grandparents in New Jersey seem to especially love pampering the grandkids: Luxury kids’ clothing store Tinyapple is a top spot.
Get a (low-impact) workout in. Hitting the golf course might be a weekly (or daily) occurrence for our grandparents — some of Lyft Silver’s biggest leisure destinations are golf clubs. But riders hit up pools and yoga studios too.
Go out to “linner.” Taking your grandparents out to a meal is a classic plan for the holiday, and Lyft Silver data confirms that the Early Bird Special is the way to go: Lyft Silver riders tend to make their trip to restaurants at 4 p.m., a full two hours before the 6 p.m. peak of other dinner riders.

But, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how you plan to celebrate Grandparents’ Day — just take the time to be with them and tell them how special they are to you!
