Lyftern Season: Advancing the Next Gen of Tech Talent

Sep 17, 2026

This summer, over 50 Lyfterns joined the ride in North America across key business areas like marketing, supply chain, data science, and product design. We're thrilled the program's impact didn't go unnoticed - Yello included Lyft in their list of top 100 internships based on intern development, engagement, and full-time opportunities reviewed by industry experts and chosen by +110,000 public voters.

With AI changing how we work, Lyft's internship program gives students real opportunities to grow alongside that change. Between hands-on projects, a mentor/mentee program, a sit-down with CEO David Risher, and absorbing how Lyft is using AI to push the boundaries of what’s possible, here’s what stuck with them:

  • “I had one of the most fun, fast and empowering summers of my career,” said Kyle, a marketing intern in Toronto. “I knew marketing could move quickly, but Lyft operates at a pace that keeps you sharp every day. The work was real, the stakes were real, and the trust the team put in me from day one was real. As an MBA student, you spend a lot of time studying strategy in the classroom, and this summer I got to live it. I’m walking away more confident, more capable, and genuinely excited about what comes next.”

  • “This summer I learned that one small, overlooked detail can quietly impact business at a large scale,” said Ken, a software engineer intern in Toronto. “I’ll carry that eye-for-detail I learned throughout the rest of my career.”

  • “Everyone on my team was so patient and willing to take time out of their day to get to know me,” said Maddy, a hardware supply chain intern in San Francisco. “Because of this, not only did this summer solidify my interest in program management, but it also introduced me to entirely new concepts. The people within Lyft are incredible, and I am so grateful for the mentorship I received!”

  • “Interning on the pricing team taught me how to turn complex market data into actionable strategies,” said Anh, a data science intern in NYC. “Seeing the impact of the sizing models was the highlight of my summer.

Since the program’s inception in 2016, 950 Lyfterns have joined the company for summer opportunities. Today, almost 10% of our technical team in North America are former Lyft interns. It's a track record we're proud to keep building for years to come.
