Activating LyftUp During the Northern California Fires

Aug 21, 2020

We know Lyft can be a critical lifeline for communities in need – and as the COVID-19 crisis continues, the needs of our communities intensify. In response to the fires spreading rapidly across Northern California, Lyft is committed to doing our part to help those in need. We’re activating our LyftUp Disaster Response program to provide access to free rides to help those in affected areas move to designated evacuation centers.

Rides can be accessed using the code CAFIRERELIEF20, valid for 2 rides up to $15 each, from now until 08/31 at 11:59 p.m. while rides are available. We advise checking evacuation centers operational hours and availability before visiting the sites, and following CDC guidelines when going to a public disaster shelter.

In partnership with United Way and 211, individuals in need can also dial 211 to have a ride dispatched on their behalf.  If you'd like to support United Way and their relief efforts, you can donate to Ride United.

LyftUp is our comprehensive effort to expand transportation access to those who need it most. Through LyftUp, we partner with leading nonprofits to help provide free and discounted rides to individuals and families who lack affordable, reliable transportation.

Safety is fundamental to Lyft and we will continue to monitor the area’s conditions and communicate with Lyft drivers, riders, and government officials. As always, we look forward to providing rides to those who need them.
