Prop 22 passed: Moving forward with new driver benefits

Nov 4, 2020

Millions of people voted for Prop 22 to redefine what independent work looks like for drivers. Now that it has passed, we will be able to give drivers the new benefits they want and keep rideshare available for people around the state.

Passing Prop 22 gives drivers:

  • Continued flexibility: They can drive when and where they want.

  • Guaranteed minimum earnings: They can keep a flexible schedule and will get guaranteed earnings.

  • New healthcare benefits: They will be eligible for healthcare benefits.

  • More insurance coverage: They will be covered by additional occupational accident coverage, including medical and disability benefits.

This is the result of years of work to secure both independence and benefits for drivers. We’re grateful for the progress and appreciate you being part of the Lyft community.
