Keep earning more with Black
Since riders choose Black for great service, starting September 17, 2025, drivers will need to have a driver rating of 4.95 or higher in addition to existing requirements to maintain access to Black—and its extra earnings.
Black and Black SUV eligibility requirements
Drivers need to meet the following criteria:
Drive an eligible vehicle
Updated 9/17/25: Have a driver rating of 4.95 or higher
Have no more than two service flags in the last 50 rides
Have no more than two cleanliness flags in the last 50 rides
Have no more than two safety flags in the last 50 rides
Tips for giving 5-star Black rides
Riders are more likely to give 5-star reviews for an elevated experience, such as:
Traveling in a vehicle that’s spotless inside and out
Being welcomed by name, offered help with bags, and having the door opened for them
Experiencing their music, temperature and conversation preferences
Receiving thoughtful extras like bottled water and mints

FAQs
What if my rating drops below 4.95?
If your rating falls below 4.95, you won’t be able to give Black rides until your rating improves to 4.95 or higher.
What if I receive more than two safety, service, or cleanliness flags?
The first time you receive more than two flags in any category, you’ll receive a warning.
The second time you receive more than two flags in any category, you’ll lose access to Black rides for one day. If you get additional flags, you’ll lose access to Black for longer periods of time.
Once you regain access to Black rides, prior flags will be removed from your account. You’ll receive a notification in your Driver app letting you know you have access again.
How can I see if I have access to Black rides?
You can see if you have access to Black and/or Black SUV in the Driver App. Find "Vehicles and Devices” in the side menu > Tap “Vehicles” > Tap “See details” for the vehicle you want to check > Tap “View eligibility details.”
How will I know when I regain access to Black rides?
If you temporarily lose access to Black rides, you’ll receive a notification in your Driver app when you have access again.
