Kentucky Defensive Driving Course Required

A Lyft driver leaning against the hood of his car

Kentucky regulations require all drivers to take the National Safety Council (NSC) defensive driving course.

If you have previously completed the NSC defensive driving course this year, no need to take it again, simply upload your completion certificate to your Dashboard (Driver Info tab) or Lyft Driver App > Documents Tab > Personal Documents > Defensive Driving Certificate. If you have not completed the NSC defensive driving course, here’s how (please note you must complete this course on a desktop or laptop computer and it takes 2 - 4 hours to complete):

  1. Select "New Student," and then "New Student Registration." Type in KYLYFTDDC as your access code and submit.

  2. Choose a login ID and password on the registration page, and submit. NOTE: Make sure to use the phone number and email address linked with your Lyft account so we are able to verify your completion of the course.

  3. Select “NSC Defensive Driving 10th Edition 2” on the “My Courses” page.

  4. Complete the course, and upload your certificate to your Dashboard (Driver Info tab) or Lyft Driver App > Documents Tab > Personal Documents > Defensive Driving Certificate (see below for an example certificate). If you've already taken the course and need help accessing your certificate, contact the course provider, Safety Serve, at 1-800-775-1484.
