New earning opportunities are coming to Puerto Rico with Lyft

May 29, 2025

Driver applications to join the Lyft community open today

Puerto Rico drivers, opportunity is calling! Apply today to be among the first to pioneer Lyft’s expansion into Puerto Rico and experience a new way to drive, with flexible and transparent earning opportunities across the island.

At Lyft, we operate in partnership with the communities we serve, offering a unique opportunity for drivers to earn money and connect people in their areas. We're looking for motivated drivers to help everyone explore the incredible destinations, from the scenic coastal roads in Rincón, Ceiba and Ponce, to the mountains in Cayey and of course the bustling centers of San Juan, Bayamón, and Carolina. You'll be an essential part of the island’s transportation network and getting people where they need to go.

Driving with Lyft means you set your own hours, increase your income, and become an even greater connector in your community – all with the support of the Lyft platform. Ready to get started? Once Lyft launches, new drivers in Puerto Rico can earn a $100 bonus for completing 50 rides within their first 30 days. Apply now! Terms apply.

At Lyft, we prioritize creating transparent features, so you’ll know what you can earn before you hit the “accept” button.

  • You’ll see the earnings and details for each ride upfront to help you evaluate if you want to accept it. The fare is based on characteristics of the ride, such as estimated time and distance to complete the ride and distance to the pickup. The fare also depends on what’s going on in your area, such as the number of ride requests in the area, how many drivers are on the road, and how busy it is at the destination.

  • We’ve made it easier for drivers to decide whether to accept a ride request by showing them an estimated $/hour rate for the ride on the accept screen.

Safety is a priority for all of our customers—both riders and drivers. We’ll always treat you with respect and look out for your safety, which is why our proactive safety measures are always there for you.

  • PIN Verification is a feature that helps you confirm that you have the right passenger, and allows riders to verify that they’re getting in the correct car through a PIN match.

  • Audio Recording (coming soon!) enables riders and drivers to capture audio during a ride for added security. For privacy, recordings are encrypted, stored on the user’s phone, and only accessible by Support if submitted through an incident report.

  • Share Location lets you choose to share your exact location and route with family and friends, who will be able to see trip status and where you are on the map.

  • Emergency 911 Help is here for you if you ever feel uncomfortable or need emergency assistance at any point. You’ll be able to initiate a 911 call from the Lyft app, which also triggers a follow-up from our Safety team.

  • Smart Trip Check-In means that if we notice unusual activity, like a ride that appears to have ended far from the intended destination, been canceled after pickup, gone off-route, or stopped for an abnormal amount of time, we reach out to riders and drivers directly. We if you need help, and, if so, connect you to emergency assistance or our own Safety team.

  • 24/7 Support means that anytime, day or night, we offer real help from real humans—in both Spanish and English—by phone, chat, or email.

Give rides. Get paid. If you're ready to take on new challenges and connect Puerto Rico, we want you to join the Lyft community! Once Lyft launches, new drivers in Puerto Rico can earn a $100 bonus for completing 50 rides within their first 30 days. Terms apply.

Let's hit the road and connect Puerto Rico.
