Have you tried to have a conversation with an aging parent or a dear friend about turning over the car keys? How’d it go? Yea, same for us – it's a tough one. You think it’s about safety; they think it’s about independence. And everyone wants to remain connected to the people and places that bring joy to life.

We're absolutely thrilled to introduce Lyft Silver – not just a new version of Lyft, but a thoughtful way to give your older mother, father, or friend the gift of independence, without the weight of worry. We poured our hearts into designing this, thinking about those we cherish most.

"As someone with a mom, an aunt, and several other wonderful older adults in my life, the development of Lyft Silver is deeply personal to me. Our goal wasn't just to build a service, but to remove everything that makes getting around a challenge. Lyft Silver is about empowering people like my own family to stay connected with their communities, to get out and about with ease and confidence." - Audrey Liu, Head of Rider and Community Safety

Lyft Silver is built with simplicity and care at its core:

  • Live, Human Support: Lyft Silver Riders have quick and easy access to phone support agents.

  • Simple, by Design: We've streamlined the service to highlight the essentials, making it easy for older riders to get where they want to go without any fuss.

  • Comfort You Can Count On: Lyft Silver users will be prioritized for matches with vehicles that are easier to get in and out of, ensuring a comfortable journey.

  • Built-In Peace of Mind:  Ride details are shareable with trusted contacts, so it’s easy to see when someone has arrived safely.

Lyft Silver comes out of our true obsession for customers. We collaborated closely with experts in aging to truly understand the unique needs of older adults and the loved ones who support them. We’re working with local partners, like AltaMed, Urban League, NOAH, SAGE, and Self Help for the Elderly, to provide early access ride discounts to their participants using Lyft Silver.

“Lyft has developed a groundbreaking feature to help connect older adults to the world around them via rideshare. We enjoyed being part of the design and accessibility process, ensuring that this will be a great tool to further reduce social isolation.” - The Foundation for Social Connection Action Network

"Transportation can be a major barrier for seniors, limiting their access to healthcare, social connections, and essential services. Lyft Silver's focus on accessibility and ease of use directly addresses these challenges, empowering older adults to maintain their independence and engage fully in our community." - Neighborhood Outreach Access to Health
