Seasoned airport travelers might know exactly when and where in their home airport to request a Lyft ride when they land for a perfectly-timed pickup. But less frequent travelers and those going to unfamiliar airports are often left guessing and stressing about when to order a ride. 

No more, “should I order my ride now?” as you walk off the plane. Now, riders at select airports can preorder a ride as soon as their flight lands, and make their way to the pickup spot stress-free. 

Have checked bags? No problem. Preorder a ride upon landing and Lyft will match riders with a driver as they get closer to the pickup spot–meaning zero guesswork about when to book a ride and shorter waits at the pickup area. Preordering also means riders lock in the price and don’t have to worry about price fluctuations, even if they need more time getting to the pickup area.

Our new preorder experience will help make airport travel simple, so riders can get where they’re going with ease.”

Starting today, preordering is available in some of the largest travel hubs in the country, including Los Angeles (LAX) and Chicago (O’Hare, Midway), and is rolling out soon at AUS, JFK, and SEA.

Now, iOS users can connect Apple Calendar to the Lyft app to get reminders about booking airport rides. Flight and terminal info will automatically appear in the Lyft app for easy reference. With Live Activities and Dynamic Island on iPhone*, riders can track the progress of their ride and see timely updates without opening the Lyft app. 

For those with Android devices, Google Assistant’s travel notifications can help get riders to the airport on time without all the added guesswork. Google uses traffic predictions to nudge riders when it’s time to book a ride. Riders can conveniently compare ride times and prices in Google Maps, and click directly into the Lyft app to go straight to booking a ride.** 

No matter your mobile preference, Lyft also offers Scheduled Rides up to 30 days in advance, for when you have somewhere important to be – like heading to the airport for a vacation. Simply choose a date and time, and lock in a price. Scheduled pickups are prioritized so riders can be confident the ride will be there when needed, and if plans change, you can edit the ride up to 1 hour before the pickup time.

Get rewarded when you ride.

More than half of travelers in 2023 will prioritize adopting solutions that make travel easier. They also expect to be rewarded for their loyalty, with as many as 42% saying that loyalty perks will matter to them when traveling this year.
