A year ago, we set out to do something we believe in deeply: help drivers build the careers they want, both on and off the road. Today, we're thrilled to celebrate the one-year anniversary of our partnership between Lyft and Merit America—and to share some exciting news about what's ahead.

Since last fall, Lyft and Merit America have partnered to provide drivers access to Merit America’s career training programs in high-demand fields. Programs take as little as 14 weeks to complete, with personalized career coaching and job search support included.

Over the past year, hundreds of drivers on Lyft have taken the leap into new career paths through Merit America's programs. From UX design and project management to data analytics, cybersecurity, and IT support, drivers are gaining skills that open doors—all while continuing to drive on their own schedule.

What makes this opportunity special? You can get started with no upfront cost and only pay once you’re earning at least $40k/year. It's that simple. We believe in removing barriers, not creating them.

To kick off year two, we're excited to announce that Merit America is offering $75,000 worth of new scholarships for 25 drivers on Lyft in the Bay Area in 2026. These scholarships cover more than half the cost of training, making it even easier to start building the career you've been dreaming about.

This past week, we brought this celebration to life at our Driver Appreciation Event in San Francisco. Drivers stopped by the Crowne Plaza near SFO for professional headshots, complimentary car washes, career coaching with Merit America staff, and the chance to meet a fellow driver, Craig Burnley, who unlocked new career opportunities by upskilling through Merit America while still driving with Lyft on the side.
