Getting to the Game: Everything You Need to Know About Riding Lyft This Summer

Jun 10, 2026

Millions of fans are heading to stadiums across the U.S. and Canada this summer for the biggest soccer tournament ever hosted on North American soil. Whether you're in Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, Dallas, or any of the other host cities across the U.S. and Canada, Lyft has you covered — from your hotel to the stadium and back.

Here's what you need to know to get there smoothly.

Plan Ahead: Schedule Your Ride

Match days mean high demand near stadiums. The easiest way to take the stress out of getting there is to schedule your Lyft in advance — you can plan ahead by booking ahead of time and you'll get a reminder before your pickup. Scheduled rides are the first to be matched with drivers, so your pickup goes as planned.

Lyft Pink members get even more peace of mind with Priority Pickup upgrades included free with a Lyft Pink membership, and it will help bump you up in line for driver matching on busy match days. Riders have noticed the difference after concerts and big events so being a Lyft Pink member can cut down wait times.

Tips for Getting to and From the Game

  • Request to and from a designated pickup zone. Stadiums will have specific rideshare pickup and dropoff areas — check your venue's official site before the match. Rideshare zones at most venues aren't right at the gate. Plan for a light walk each way depending on the stadium. Factor that into your timing, especially if you're catching a connection or have kids in tow. When in doubt, arrive early and leave a little wiggle room after the final whistle.

  • Plan for post-match demand. Don't wait until the final whistle to request your ride home. Schedule your return Lyft before the match ends to lock in your pickup time and avoid the post-game surge. A little planning goes a long way when thousands of fans are all opening the app at once.

  • Watch for in-app guidance. The Lyft app will surface pickup zone suggestions to help you connect with your driver faster in high-traffic areas.

  • Lyft Pink members: Your free Priority Pickup upgrade is included — use it on busy match days and it will help bump you up in line for driver matching.

FAQs

  • What should riders expect on high-demand match days?

    • During major match days, riders may experience higher than usual wait times and dynamic pricing as demand increases across host cities. We encourage riders to plan ahead — scheduling rides in advance, building in extra travel time and using the Lyft app to check on upfront fares before confirming a ride so there are no surprises on price.

  • Will there be dynamic pricing during match days?

    • Lyft uses a dynamic pricing model that adjusts in real-time based on marketplace conditions to help ensure more drivers are on the road when and where riders need them most. During high-demand moments, our "Prime Time" pricing feature funds driver incentives to encourage more drivers to get on the road, helping to balance supply and demand. Riders always see their price upfront before confirming a ride, so there are no surprises.

  • What advice do you have for riders trying to avoid long wait times or Prime Time pricing?

    • We recommend scheduling rides in advance using Lyft's scheduled ride feature, allowing extra time on match days, and using Priority Pickup where available, which could help bump you up in line for driver matching. Riders always see their price upfront before confirming.

  • How can non-English speaking riders communicate with drivers?

    • Riders can change their app language in settings. While Lyft doesn't match riders and drivers by spoken language, in-app messaging allows communication by text, with ride details automatically translated based on a rider's smartphone language settings, including English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.

  • How does Lyft handle impaired passengers?

    • Drivers have the right to decline service to passengers who are excessively intoxicated or may pose a risk to themselves, the driver, or others. Lyft's Safety team is available 24/7 to support drivers facing challenging situations. Lyft is also proud to play a broader role in reducing impaired driving by providing a safe, reliable alternative to getting behind the wheel.

  • What is Lyft doing on safety and human trafficking awareness?

    • Major sporting events, including large-scale international tournaments, are unfortunately among the highest-risk periods for human trafficking due to the significant influx of travelers and heightened demand across hospitality, transportation, and entertainment. As part of Lyft's ongoing commitment to driver and community safety, we'll be surfacing anti-human trafficking educational resources to drivers across host markets.

  • Are there any deals or promos available for riders during the tournament?

    • Yes! Lyft will be offering promo codes for riders, and we're excited to welcome Freenow customers from Europe experiencing Lyft for the first time. DashPass members can also save 10% off eligible Lyft rides in host cities in the United States and Canada from June 25–July 8. Discount varies by location; ride limits and terms apply. • What should I do if I have a bad experience on a match day?

    • Lyft's support team is available 24/7 to assist with any issues during your ride. If you experience a problem, you can report it directly in the app after your trip. We take rider feedback seriously and review all reported issues on a case-by-case basis.
