Curious about what’s happening in your city for Black History Month — and how you can get out and celebrate? Here are some events in Portland, Los Angeles, and Seattle that are well worth leaving the house for. And to make it even easier for you, Lyft is providing discounted ride codes for each event.

February 15 in Portland, Oregon

Did you know that an enslaved man was part of the Lewis and Clark expedition? In this lecture, Zachary Stocks of Oregon Black Pioneers, a historical association dedicated to sharing Oregon’s little-known (yet longstanding) African American history, will introduce you to this unsung hero of the Pacific Northwest. Come for the stories, stay to learn more about the great work its organizers — including the 1803 Fund, which is currently redeveloping the historically African American neighborhood of Albina — are up to this year.

RIDE CODE: OBHYORK24 — offer is valid for one (1) Lyft ride up to $15 for the first 300 users to redeem. Code valid only on 02/15/2024 from 4:30 p.m. PT to 9:30 p.m. PT. Valid only to or from the designated location.

February 18 in Los Angeles, California

Organized by the Open Arms Food Pantry and Resource Center, a 501(c)(3) that provides monthly food and other essentials to over 5,000 families in L.A, this family-friendly, community-oriented event will offer not only entertainment (including Black authors reading their books and musicians like Ro James performing) but also helpful medical and other professional services.

RIDE CODE: LABHM24 — offer is valid for one (1) Lyft ride up to $10 off for the first 1,500 users to redeem. Code valid only on 02/18/2024 from 10 a.m. PT to 7 p.m. PT. Valid only to or from the designated location.

February 8 in Seattle, Washington

If you’re Black, an ally, and/or in Seattle’s tech scene, don’t miss Black Tech Night, a celebration of Black history in tech. This event series — presented by SeaCiti and the Seattle Office of Economic Development in collaboration with tech industry partners — is a great way to network, hear from diverse leaders in the Seattle tech scene, and find out about new tech opportunities. This year’s series kicks off on February 8, the first event of many. Register at http://tinyurl.com/blacktechnight.

RIDE CODE: SEACITIBHM2024 — offer is valid for one (1) Lyft ride up to $5 for the first 125 users to redeem. Code valid only on 02/8/2024 from 3:00 p.m. PT to 10:00 p.m. PT. Valid only to or from the designated location.
