The Online Time Guarantee promotion lets you earn a guaranteed amount per hour online for one day, if you complete at least 1 ride during the day. The promotion period starts at 5:00AM and ends at 5:00AM the next day (local time).
At the end of the promotion period, we will calculate the total amount of time you spent online during the period. If you don’t make at least the hourly Guarantee amount multiplied by your total time online on your own during this period, we’ll cover the difference (up to a total maximum payout of $80).
If you are eligible for this promotion, you have received an email which contains information on the Guarantee amount. You will also be able to check a summary of the requirements and the Guarantee amount in your driver app during the day of the promotion.
All hours that you are online during the promotion period will be included when we calculate the top-up amount at the end of the day (includes all time spent waiting for a ride request, en route to pickup, and dropping off a passenger). Hours will be calculated by taking the total amount of minutes you spent online during the promotion period, divided by 60.
For online shifts that overlap the start or end of the period, only the time online that occurred during the promotion period will be counted. For example: if you are online from 4:00AM to 6:00AM on the day of the promotion, we only count 1 hour online from 5:00AM to 6:00AM.
Earnings accrued during the promotion period that are in one of the categories of eligible earnings (listed below) will be included when we calculate the top-up amount at the end of the day.
Eligible earnings include:
Time and distance earnings
Ride Streak bonuses
Personal Power Zone bonuses (if available in your region)
Ride-related bonuses (ex: per-ride insurance credits)
Preferred mode bonuses (if available in your region)
Delivery earnings (if available in your region)
Cancellation fees
Eligible earnings don’t include:
Tips
Tolls
Airport fees and other third party charges
Any Lyft fees like the Service Fee or Platform Fee
Ride Challenge bonuses
Earnings Guarantee bonuses
Referral program bonuses
Express Drive bonuses
If the 1 completed ride requirement is met, all eligible earnings and hours online from the promotion period are totaled. The total hours online are multiplied by your Guarantee amount to determine the minimum earnings you should have earned for the day of the promotion. If the total eligible earnings are lower than the minimum guaranteed earnings, Lyft will cover the difference (up to a total maximum payout of $80).
If you are in a region where this promotion is available and were sent this offer, you qualify to be guaranteed the Guarantee amount for your online time if you fulfill the requirements detailed below:
To qualify, you must:
Complete at least 1 ride between 5:00AM on the day of the promotion and 5:00AM the next day.
Example 1
Lyft might offer an Online Time Guarantee of $15 per hour online for completing 1 ride on the day of the promotion.
A driver signs online for 2 hours total during the promotion period, during which they complete 1 ride. The driver earns $20 in total eligible earnings from those rides.
The driver was online for 2 hours and made $20, which is lower than the promotion guaranteed amount of $30. Because they did not meet the Guarantee amount and they met the ride requirement, Lyft will cover the difference and the driver will receive an extra $10 after the end of the promotion period.
Example 2
Lyft might offer an Online Time Guarantee of $15 per hour online for completing 1 ride on the day of the promotion.
A driver signs online for 5 hours total during the promotion period, during which they complete 4 rides. The driver earns $90 in total eligible earnings from those rides.
The driver was online for 5 hours and made $90, which is higher than the promotion guaranteed amount of $75.
Because this is higher than the Hourly Earnings Guarantee amount, Lyft does not issue any additional money, even though the driver met the ride requirement.
Example 3
Lyft might offer an Online Time Guarantee of $15 per hour online for completing 1 ride on the day of the promotion.
A driver signs online for 1 hour total during the promotion period, during which they receive a ride but the rider cancels. The driver earns $5 in cancellation fees, which means a total of $5 in eligible earnings.
The driver did not meet the 1 ride completion requirement, so Lyft does not issue any additional money.
If you are eligible for an Online Time Guarantee promotion, we have emailed you the amount of the Guarantee per hour online.
You will also be able to check the Guarantee amount, ride requirement, and promotion time period details by going to the Newsfeed on the home screen of your Lyft Driver app.
If you are eligible for payment, you will receive the payment within 24 hours from the end of the promotion period. You will see the money added to your ‘Earnings’ tab on the home screen of your Lyft Driver app. You will also receive an additional email after the end of the day with a summary of the earnings calculations as outlined above.
If you are not eligible for payment (either because you did not meet the ride requirement or because you earned above the Online Time Guarantee amount), you will not receive an additional email or payment.

Guarantee promotions are based on ride earnings after Lyft's fees are calculated.
Lyft driver eligibility and approval is determined at the sole discretion of Lyft, and is not guaranteed.
Participation in this promotion is subject to Lyft's Terms of Service and Lyft reserves the right to deny the bonus in the event of suspected fraud or abuse.
This promotion runs for a limited time only and may be suspended or ended at any time in Lyft’s discretion. The amount of the guarantee varies by market and individual and may be changed at Lyft's discretion.
The maximum payout amount for this promotion is $80.
