Lyft Supports Job Growth & Innovation through Investment in Biden-Harris Administration’s Augusta, GA Workforce Hub

Sep 15, 2023

Today, Lyft announced a new partnership in Augusta, GA – selected by the Biden-Harris Administration in May 2023 as one of five national workforce hubs – to reduce transportation barriers across the South and further accelerate job growth and innovation. Alongside the Augusta-Richmond County Mayor’s Office, the Community Foundation for the Central Savannah River Area, and Indeed, Lyft will provide funding for rides to and from clean energy and manufacturing jobs coming to Augusta, GA as a result of the President’s Investing in America agenda.

Lyft is working to help ensure anyone can get to their job no matter their location. The passing of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act have created millions of jobs across the country. Our partnership with the Augusta Workforce Hub will strengthen and promote equitable workforce opportunities for thousands of job-seekers in the region’s growing energy sector.

“My Administration is working collectively to ensure that jobseekers and the gainfully employed living in Augusta-Richmond County have access to transportation,” said Augusta-Richmond County Mayor Garnett L. Johnson. “Our collaboration with Lyft is another example of the innovative partnerships that are being developed within the Augusta Workforce Hub and the Biden-Harris Investing in America initiative. We must work together to dismantle barriers that prevent people from succeeding.”

“Indeed’s partnership with Lyft has been a significant part of our Essentials to Work program, which provides rides for job seekers,” said Abbey Carlton, Vice President of Social Impact at Indeed. “We are thrilled to expand that partnership and support this important program in Augusta.”

“Providing transportation access to quality jobs creates a bridge to greater economic opportunity,” said Heather Foster, Senior Director of Global Public Policy at Lyft. “We are pleased to support the White House and the city of Augusta to help job seekers in the energy sector have the necessary support to travel to and from their workplace.”
