GO THE LAST MILE
More wheels, more ways.
Improving people’s lives with the world’s best transportation calls for more than just cars — that’s why we’re adding scooters to the Lyft lineup. We believe scooter networks are a last-mile solution to fusing Nashville’s rail and bus networks with wherever you’re headed.
When scooters are available in Nashville, they will appear in the “Nearby” section in your app. Tap the icon to reserve a scooter ahead of time. Scooters are just $1 to unlock and 15 cents per minute to ride.
How to ride
- Kick-start the ground twice to get going.
- Press the throttle on the right-hand side of the handlebar to speed up.
- Hold down the brake on the left-hand side of the handlebar to slow down.
- One person per scooter — passengers prohibited.
Where to ride
Please ride your scooter in the street or in a bike lane when it’s available. You may ride on the sidewalks outside of business districts — but please always yield to pedestrians.
Follow traffic laws
Nashville motor vehicle laws apply to cars, bicycles, and, yep: scooters. This means you must stop at red lights and stop signs, ride in the same direction as traffic, leave crosswalks free and clear for pedestrians, and, of course, yield to pedestrians. Always.
Wear a helmet
Always wear a helmet when riding a scooter. (But don’t worry — helmet hair is cool now.)
Parking your scooter
Please be mindful of others when parking your scooter — use bike racks or in the frontage zone, and ensure that your scooter is parked upright. Don't block sidewalks, pathways, or wheelchair ramps. The City of Nashville also has some very specific rules around parking your scooter.
Reserve before you go
Ensure that your scooter will actually be there when you arrive. Reserve a scooter ahead of time and we’ll hold your scooter for up to 15 minutes. You’ll be charged the standard 15 cents per minute rate while the scooter is reserved. Once you unlock the scooter, you’ll also be charged the $1 unlock fee.
See a friend? Need a cold-brew break? Just tap Lock in your Lyft app to lock your scooter (you’ll be charged the standard 15 cents per minute rate while the scooter is locked) until you're ready again. We’ll wait.
