Pride: Support for the LGBTQ+ community

Our ongoing commitment to LGBTQ+ equality and inclusion

Donating to causes

Lyft riders contribute just a few dollars each month, but together, we are making a big difference.

Preserving history

We’re helping to record and preserve the stories of LGBTQ+ communities in partnership with StoryCorps.

Preservation of LGBTQ+ history

Partnership with StoryCorps

We have provided major support to StoryCorpsStonewall OutLoud campaign — a participatory initiative to record the powerful, varied experiences of LGBTQ+ elders before they are lost to history. Each of these interviews will become a permanent part of American history at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

Equality in the workplace

HRC Corporate Equality Award

The award recognizes Lyft’s exceptional commitment to equality for the LGBTQ+ community. Lyft’s Gender Inclusion & Affirmation Policy sets a high bar for workplace equality and will be a model for other companies when reviewing their own policies. The new policy was created by members of Lyft’s LGBTQ+ employee resource group, LyftOUT, and lays out comprehensive protections and benefits for Lyft employees in a clear and courageous way.

Wrapping Lyft rides in Pride

Daniel Quasar created the Progress Pride Flag to include the original flag’s colors, as well as the trans flag stripes (light blue, light pink, white), stripes to represent those who are further marginalized (brown, black), and a stripe for those lost to AIDS (black). With its new arrow shape, the hoist of the flag beautifully illustrates the forward movement we’ve made, while it sits on the left side to show there’s still much to be done. We are proud to feature Daniel’s beautiful design in the Lyft app during city-wide Pride celebrations this year.
