Tackling Traffic In LA

Let’s face it, LA isn’t your typical city. The sheer size of this town requires a very particular, very thoughtful, extra layer of connectivity. And to be honest, we’re not sure what the answer is yet. But we know this — any and all options are on the table.

Less Talk, More Action

We have a better chance of success when we cut back on the chatter and go all in on actions. First off, we’re holding workshops this month in South LA, the Westside, and Downtown to listen to community leaders about traffic and other local issues.

A Little Hassle, A Lotta Good

We’re also offering $20 Transit Access Pass (TAP) credit to use on Metro and other public transit when you take five Shared rides*. Just choose Shared ride, our OG rideshare mode, in the Lyft app to start riding. Oh, and — the TAP credit also unlocks Metro bike access! When you hit 5 rides you'll receive an email with redemption details.

But Wait, There’s More

We plan to subsidize first-mile, last-mile access for underserved neighborhoods, creating more opportunities to ride Metro bikes, and scaling up availability to scooters across the city. We’re also supplying hybrid cars for drivers, and offsetting carbon emissions from the rest of the fleet.

It’s a start. And instead of asking for patience, all we ask is your involvement and an open mind.

(Coincidentally, have you considered taking a Shared ride or bus or train or scooter or bike today?)

Disclaimer

*Limit one $20 Transit Access Pass ("TAP") credit per person, per Lyft account. To qualify to receive $20 TAP credit, you must have an active Lyft account and take five (5) Lyft Shared rides that begin or end in the Los Angeles area between May 20, 2019 and July 15, 2019, while supplies last.  Lyft Standard rides, Shared Saver rides, Lyft Black rides, and Lyft XL rides are not eligible. Limited quantity of total TAP credit available: supplies limited to the first 5000 customers.
