How much does Lyft cost?
Lyft ride payments are based on time and distance. Lyft tends to be a bit cheaper (and a whole lot more fun) than a taxi.
Can I see how much the ride will be before I take it?
You can always calculate an estimate by using our help center's city-specific pages, or by reaching out to firstname.lastname@example.org with your starting and ending points. After the ride is over, the app will display the recommended payment for the ride along with your driver's beautiful face and a screen to rate them.
How do I pay for Lyft rides?
Paying for your Lyft rides is done entirely through the app, and is completely cash-free! When you log into the app for the first time, you will be asked to input your credit card information.
Once a ride is complete, passengers will be prompted to pay within the Lyft app. The amount displayed is voluntary in some markets, so passengers have the ability to adjust the amount before submitting it. If you want to show your appreciation for a great driver, just hit the payment method and tap “+” to increase the amount!
How do I use my Lyft credits?
If there are Lyft credits in your account, they will be applied to your ride automatically. After credits are used up, the card on file will be charged. Your ride receipt will list the credits that were used and how much was charged to your card.
How can I tip?
You can add a tip by tapping on the recommended payment- you'll then reach a screen where you can use the "+." Make sure you got back to the rating screen and tap "Submit" or your changes will not be saved!
Do I have to pay right away?
You have 24 hours to go back into the app and submit payment, a star rating for your driver, and feedback. If you haven't done so after 24 hours, the recommended amount will automatically be charged.
What if I'm not prompted to pay?
If you’re still within the 24 hour period, and are unable to see the payment screen, you can try force-quitting the app and reopening it, as this should re-prompt the screen to appear. It could also be that your location has poor cellular connection to the network. By simply relocating, you could help your app reconnect and resolve the issue.
How can I update my credit card info?
You can update your credit card info directly in the Lyft app! Simply go into "Settings" in the Lyft app menu, tap on the credit card field, and begin typing to re-enter your card information, then hit save. For iPhone, this feature will be found under the “Payment” option; Android users will find this feature under “Payment and Profile.” In both cases please remember to hit save after entering your information!
What if my payment fails?
No worries! The next time you open the app to request a Lyft, you'll be prompted to enter your credit card information. Once you do so, the failed payment will automatically re-charge and you'll receive a new ride receipt in your email.
How can I get a receipt for my ride?
For every Lyft you take, you will be emailed a receipt. Each receipt shows the amount charged to your credit card for the ride, the ride request time and location, as well as your driver’s name. The primary email address we have on file will be the email associated with your Facebook account, since all Lyft users log in using Facebook. If you would like us to send receipts to a different email address than the one used for Facebook, send us a message at email@example.com and let us know what your email preference is.

Prime time pricing is designed to get drivers on the road when they are needed most. Before you make your request, you'll be notified that a tip will automatically be added to the suggested about, and will go directly to your driver.

Can I request a price review for my ride?
Yes! If you feel like the ride amount was higher than it should've been or if you were charged for a ride and your driver never arrived, you can easily request a review of your ride by clicking the "Request a price review" link at the bottom of your email receipt.
From there, you can select your reason for the review and fill out any relevant details that we need to know! We'll check everything out and make sure the price is accurate!
